You’ve been stung with positivity, honey

Spread joy with secret deliveries

If you're here, maybe you've been stung? If you stumbled upon this page, awesome! Join us in the "You've been stung" with positivity movement.

What's this about? It wasn’t until I moved to North Carolina that I learned of these fun neighborhood ‘chain-mail’ type games. You may be familiar with games like “You’ve Been Booed” for Halloween or “You’ve Been Jingled” for Christmas. These are games of secret gifting that can go viral throughout a community.

I have been dying to do something nice for my neighborhood since the pandemic started and thought why not create one to help cheer people up? I partnered with a few of my amazing neighbors and that is how “You’ve Been Stung” was born. It’s an awesome way to anonymously bring a smile to someone’s day. After all, there are still so many BEE-utiful reasons to smile. Even when life gets tough, don’t ever quit. Please jump in and help us to keep this going so you too can #feelthebuzz. Tag us on social media!

Here is how it works:

  1. Download and print a copy of the ‘'You’ve Been Stung” instructions.

  2. Create a goody bag - Include positivity, whatever that means to you. It could be something inspirational, a journal, a sealed treat, a flower you picked from your yard, stickers, a gift card or anything that you think someone will like. Try not to spend more than $5-10 or maybe you can even make something! For example, my son and I made some bracelets for our goody bags.  Place your items inside a bag or basket of your choice and include a copy of the "You've been stung" printed instructions (link in step #1). Try to avoid anything home-made, since these will most likely be put in the trash.
  3. Now comes the fun part. Deliver your goody bag to one of your neighbors anonymously. This may mean putting it in someone’s mailbox, leaving it on their doorstep, or handing it to a stranger. The purpose of this is to start a chain reaction of love in the community. You could even give one to your grocery store clerk, your mail-person, your friend…the possibilities are endless.
  4. Just remember that even if you receive one, participation isn’t required or even expected—it’s just a nice way to add joy to someone’s day.
  5. If you want to share this with your community, please do! Even better, tag an image of your gift with hashtags #spreadjoy #feelthebuzz so we can all see it!

Remember, we’re all in this together.

  1. My package happened to come to me on a particularly hard day so it was so wonderful to come home to a surprise. Thank you for thinking of me. I will pass it on.
